Repeat Before Me (a modern day myth)

This is a myth I wrote based on the story of Echo from Greek mythology.  I hope that you enjoy this modern day myth. :-)

Repeat Before Me
Do you think talking is a challenge?  Do you think texting is hard?  I bet you think you have social issues.  But you don’t, that is unless you are like me, I can’t speak my own words.  I am cursed, and because of this, I can only speak the last words of people speaking to me.

It’s hard when the teacher asks me “will you please answer the question?”
And I reply “Answer the question.”

She doesn’t understand, and sends me to the principal’s office, and the principal sends me to detention.  Not that I have anything to do anyways, as I can’t say yes or no until someone else says it to me.  But this is how it happens:

They ask “Hey, want to play kickball?  We need you on our team”
“Our team” I reply.
They snap “Yes or no!”
All I can do of course is lament “No.”

I never get to do anything because of it!  Life as an echo is hard.

(To Be Continued.)
